Al Ahli defeat Bani Yas 3-1 to take third place
Dubai-based AL Ahli moved to third spot in Group "B" following their deserved 3-1 win over Bani Yas in the fourth round last game of the Etisalat Cup played tonight on Rashid Stadium in Al Ahli Club. The competition has come to a halt after this round to pave the way for the Etisalat Pro-League Championship due to kick off on October 15th.
Al Ahli raised their balance to seven points, three points behind group leaders Ajman while Bani Yas are staying at the bottom of the ladder with one point.
Graffiti opened the score to put the home team into the lead with a nice header only 20 minutes into play off a cross ball switched by Juma'a Sanqoor inside the box. Led by their three Brazilians Graffiti, Jaja and Germanize, Al Ahli demonstrated a lovely performance giving their rivals hard time.
Germanize added the second goal for the home team to make it 2-0 in the 33rd minute off a long-range volley that went straight into the left corner. Sengahoor from Senegal reduced the deficit one minute before the break off a penalty kick to end the first session with a 2-1 lead for Al Ahli.
The performance of both teams dropped down in the second session and they lost a bagful of chances especially the hosts' front liners. The situation remained the same up to the 83rd minute which witnessed the third and last goal netted by Faisal Khalil making it 3-1.
