Nawaf Mubarak saves Bani Yas to snatch a point in a six-goal match

Bani Yas’s midfielder Nawaf Mubarak saved his team from the second successive defeat when he scored a last-minute goal tonight at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium in Ajman with a strong left-footed volley that beat Ajman’s goalkeeper Jabir Jasim to take the Etisalat Pro League 22nd round match to a 3-3 draw. Each team added a lone point to their tally for Bani Yas to remain third with 42 points whilst Ajman are 11th on 23 points.

Ajman commenced the game with fast attacks hoping to score an early goal that would boost their morals, but the visiting team Bani Yas recovered quickly bringing themselves into the atmosphere of the match to demonstrate an equal display along with hosts Ajman but without any scoring chances. It was only nine minutes into play before Bani Yas succeeded in taking the lead through the Swedish player Christian Wilhelmsson who capitalized on the great blunder committed by the goalkeeper Jaber Jasim who let the ball switched from the right flank by Haboosh Saleh to slip from his hands for Wilhelmsson to drive it directly into the empty net putting his team 1-0 up. Boris Kabi was almost to bring the game into parity had not his powerful header flew over the cross bar one minute later. Bani Yas dominated the game but without threatening Ajman’s goal and their Egyptian midfielder player Mohammed Aboutrika was guilty of squandering a lovely chance when he received a pass from Haboosh Saleh into the six yard area but his late shot was saved by the keeper in the last moment before being cleared away by a defender in the 19th minute.

The two teams went on to exchange attacks with Boris Kabi forced a brave save from the custodian Hassan Al Hashimi with a perfect header for the later to tip the ball over the crossbar.

Ajman made every bit of effort trying to come back into the game through a series of attempts but their attacker failed to find the back of the net. On the other hand Bani Yas continued their endeavors to increase their goal tally and they came close to make it in the 34th minute, but Aboutrika sent the ball far away. Both sides could not add more goals in the remaining minutes to finish the first session with a alone- goal lead in favor of Bani Yas.

Ajman’s coach Abdul Wahab Abdulgadir brought on Founeke Sy after the breather who was able to level the scores in the 53rd minute and Khalid Mubarak made it 2-1 one minute later for Bani Yas. The hosts and their rivals doubled their work afterwards looking for more goals but it was Ajman who made their dreams come true when Founeke Sy fired a rocket-like volley off a dead ball in the 58th minute that beat the hapless goalkeeper to bring the game to a 2-2 draw and he added the third five minutes later off a strong header. The same player came to lose two successive sitters in the last 10 minutes and a third was squandered by his team mate Driss Fettouhi who failed to score with an empty goal ahead. Bani Yas’ defender Thamir Mohammed was given marching orders in the last minute before his colleague Nawaf Mubarak brought the game back to the starting point with a severe left-footed shot to end the game with a 3-3 draw.
