Al Wasl lose two points and Sharjah maintain first win

 

Ajman held Al Wasl to a 1-1 draw in the match played this evening at Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium in Ajman in the first day of the Etisalat third round for Al Wasl to lose first two points after winning before in two straight games in the first and second rounds. Ajman raised their tally to three points off three draws to stay in 6th place.

Rashid Essa opened the score for Al Wasl with a perfect header only 10 minutes into play off a pass from Donda in front of the goal mouth. Ajman organized their performance led by Karim Karkar in the midfield, Ibrahima Toure and Hassan Maatouq in the front line. Toure leveled the score in the 24th minute when he was put free and hooked the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Majid Nasr.

The two teams exchanged attacks after the interval. Ajman were the better side after controlling the game and both teams' strikers lost a bagful of chances with the two goalkeepers Majid Nasr and Ali Rabei demonstrating a brilliant display along with the defenders who cleared away all the dangerous attempts.

On the other hand Sharjah maintained their first win in the league of the current season after beating Emirates 2-1 in the game held tonight at the losers' pitch in Ras Al Khaimah. Sharjah raised their balance to four points taking 5th spot while Emirates are in 8th position with three points. Edinho scored for Sharjah in the 24th minute and Mohammad Ali made it 1-1 in the 63th minute before Edinho netted the winner in the 72nd minute.
