Ajman added to the woes of Al Wahda Football Team when they defeated them 4-2 in the Etisalat Pro League 10th round match played this evening at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium in Ajman amid a rainy weather and among a big mass of spectators. The winners raised their record to 11 points to take 8th position provisionally prior to Al Wasl vs. Ittihad Kalba match due to kick off tonight at 8:00pm while Al Wahda are 6th with 15 points.
Both Ajman and Al Wahda lost their 9th week games with big results. The hosts were defeated by Bani Yas with five straight goals while the visitors were beaten 6-2 by Al Ahli and therefore both of them started tonight’s encounter with all the hope to compensate their previous loss. They played the opening minutes with great care and opened eyes. But Tawfique Abdulrazak of Al Wahda surprised the home squad when he scored the first goal with a powerful header only seven minutes into the game to give his side an early lead. Ajman looked the better and dangerous opponent after they conceded a goal for Boris Cabi to level the score but his successful attempt was cancelled by the match referee.
Ajman went on giving their rivals hard time after creating some good chances and they came close to score and level the result in many occasions. Their continuous and big efforts were soon rewarded when Boris Cabi pulled one back when his teammate Founkey Sy launched a rocket-like volley in the 25th minute off a dead ball that rebounded off Al Wahda’s goalkeeper Adil Al Hosani for Cabi to drive it home. The same player came to double his team’s record a few seconds later when he netted his personal and Aj Man’s second goal in the 26th minute. Al Wahda went all out afterwards trying to bring the game into parity, but all their work was in vain to lose the first session with a 1-2 result.
The hosts continued their superiority over their rivals from the beginning of the first half and they lost a brilliant opportunity seven minutes after the interval.
The standard of the performance of both teams dropped down in the second session and despite of that, their attempts did not stop. Pap Waigo scored the equalizer for Al Wahda in the 71st minute capitalizing on Marcelinho’s cross ball to make it 2-2. But Ajman regained the lead five minutes later when Founeke Sy fired a severe shot off a stand ball that deflected by a defender into the net and the Iraqi player Karrar Jasim scored the fourth goal from a penalty kick awarded to his side in the 81st minute when Al Wahda’s keeper Adil Al Hosani brought down Ajman’s striker Poris Cabi inside the box.
