Al Nasr pick up only point in 2-2 draw at Al Ahli

Al Nasr played for pride at King Abdulaziz Sports City in Sharayea as they drew 2-2 against Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli to pick up their one and only point of the campaign. Al Nasr finish bottom of Group C in the 2013 AFC Champions League after six games with their lone point, whilst Al Ahli go through to the final 16 of the competition as group winners with Al Gharafa of Qatar also qualifying in second place.

Al Ahli took an early lead through a 7th minute penalty by Waleed Bakshwin after the referee punished a handball on the edge of the area. In the 23rd minute Al Nasr equalised, also from the penalty spot, as captain Leonardo Lima dispatched a low right-footed shot to make it 1-1. Al Nasr started the second half brightly and took the lead in the 54th minute as defender Rashid Malallah headed home a Humaid Ahmed cross to give Al Nasr a 2-1 advantage away from home. Al Ahli were back on level terms in the 77th minute when a fiercely struck shot from 30 yards by Taissir Al Jassim bounced up in front of Al Nasr’s stand-in goalkeeper Abdulla Mohamed Ibrahim and into the back of the net to even things out at 2-2, and that is how the game ended to give Al Nasr their one and only point of the group stages.
