The PLC participates in AFC 2013 Champions League Seminars
The Pro League Committee (PLC) Local General Coordinators (Badr Al Hammadi, Saud Al Aleeli, Yousef Al Blooshi and Mohamed Basel Al Jalad) and Local Media Officers (Abdulla Al Balooshi, Mahmoud Al Mentheri, Maged Basheer and Mahmoud Ashmar) in addition to representatives from the UAE Clubs due to take part in the AFC 2013 Champions League, are currently participating in the ongoing Seminars organized in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which was inaugurated on Sunday, January 6. The Seminars are discussing a number of match organization issues of the biggest continental championship.
Colin Smith the PLC Chief Executive Officer “CEO” assured the importance of participating in the Seminars as it brushes up the skills of participants, and add more to their experience in the match organisation, clarifying that the representatives of the committee Local General Coordinators and Local Media Officers as well as representatives of UAE participating clubs, must benefit from the exchange of ideas and the issues being discussed during the seminars.
Key issues of competition organisation and management including official countdown and match operations, stadium inspection and pre-match ceremony rehearsal will be discussed during the three-day seminar organised to raise the standard of competitions, particularly the AFC club competitions.
Besides, the AFC Competitions Regulations, review of the competitions of 2012 in terms of competition management, marketing and media as well as LGC Reporting System will also be discussed during the seminar.
Tan Benjamin, head of AFC Club Competitions, stressed on the importance of the LGC for the successful organisation of a match.
“Over the years, we have raised our standard of competition organisation and there is massive growth in terms of spectators as well as TV viewers of our competition,” he said.
“The role of LGC is to prepare the venue and deliver it to the Match Commissioners. So, you have an important role to play. Over the next three days you will find out AFC’s expectations from the LGCs of our Members Associations,” Tan added addressing the participants.
The two – day seminars for local media coordinators, was launched on Monday, where AFC’s Executive Director of Competitions Division Windsor John, delivered a speech welcoming the 36 participants from 10 different countries. praised the role played by the Local General Coordinators (LGCs) and the Local Media Officers (LMOs) in conducting the huge amount of matches in the continent last year
John said: "These seminars will help participants to understand each other better and deliver a high level of organisation of competitions for teams and players.
John called on the attendance to submit ideas and exchange experiences regarding the organization of the AFC 2013 Champions League, assuring that this would be beneficial to all attendees through discussion, analysis and finding out solutions to some of the issues that may face the officials during match organization..
“The role of these officials is crucial for direct success of all the matches. The match commissioners reach the venue a few days in advance but it is the LGCs and the LMOs who prepare the venue. Their commitment and cooperation for the organisation of a match plays an important role in the match organisation’s success.”
He asked the participants to equip themselves for the new season.
“I would like to ask you to equip yourself by exchanging ideas and experiences in this seminar in order to achieve the same success in 2013,” he added.
