449 goals, the outcome of the last season league

The twelve Etisalat Professional League Clubs conceded 449 goals in 132 matches played in 22 rounds of the recently concluded 2011-2012 season with a high scoring percentage which was quite close to that maintained in season 2010-2011. A difference of only four goals separates between the two seasons and a rate of 3.4 goals per game and 20 goals in each round have been drawn from both seasons. The penultimate round of the previous season was the highest in terms of scoring rate as 37 goals were netted in all six matches while 30 goals were scored in round 8 of the season 2010-2011. But round 19 of the last season saw only 12 goals against 14 goals in round 14 of the season 2010-2011. Hamdan Al Kamali and Fernando Bayano Players of Al Wahda, Yousuf Mohammed (Al Ahli), Darwish Ahmed (Al Wasl) and Ahmed Ibrahim of Ajman scored into their own nets by mistake.

Out of the total number of goals, 215 and 234 were scored in the first and second leg matches against 222 and 223 in the season 2010-2011.

On the other hand, Al Ain were the best in both defensive and offensive lines in the last season which was concluded a few days ago as they scored 52 goals and conceded only 16 while Al Nasr, who finished as runner up, stayed behind Al Ain after netting 49 goals followed by Al Jazira and Al Ahli with 47 and 45 goals respectively. But in season 2010-2011 Champions Al Jazira netted 64 goals to finish as the best frontline while second-placed Bani Yas were classified as the best defense in that season with 24 goals which is quite different of the last season in which their net conceded 39 goals to end the competition in 9th position.

Al Ain, champions of the league, also added another title to their record as their Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan was named the top scorer of the last season with 22 goals followed by Sengahoor from Bani Yas, Grafite of Al Ahli and Al Jazira front liner Ricardo Oliviera with 16, 16 and 24 goals respectively. Sengahoor was the top scorer in the penultimate season with 18 goals followed by Marcelo of Sharjah and Bare from Al Jazira with 13 goals each.
