Al Wahda humiliate Sharjah with a 6-1 victory

Al Wahda humiliated visiting team Sharjah with a 6-1 win in their Etisalat Pro-League Round 18 match played this evening at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The hosts scored two goals before the break and added four in the second session to come out with a surprising victory. They are staying in their previous fifth position in spite of raising their tally to 26 points but they are one point behind-fourth-paced Al Wasl and three points ahead of losers Sharjah who are sitting in 6th position.

Brazilian Hugo was to score the first goal for Al Wahda, but his close-range shot went wide only five minutes into play. The hosts controlled the game from the start putting more pressure on the visiting team that forced them to retreat to their back line. Sharjah relied on defensive tactics giving their rivals a goal chance to create a number of scoring opportunities, but all Al Wahda's  attempts were in vain.

Sharjah failed to build up even a single attack as most of their work was concentrated on the midfield zone. The host team had scored their first goal in the 26th minute through Mohammad Al Shehhy who was put clear by Mahmoud Khamis' lovely pass. He did not hesitate to hook the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Mohammed Al Mas giving his side an early 1-0 lead. Sharjah players demonstrated poor performance and looked unable to threaten Al Wahda's goal .Their coach Kajoda made the first change in his line-up when he brought in Fahad Hadeed to replace Fayez Juma'a in the 33rd minute aiming to strengthen the midfield zone but things remained without any change. Al Wahda continued their control of the game and their work soon yielded the second goal in the last minute of the first half. Sharjah's defender Mousa Hatab committed an error when he fouled Salim Saleh inside the box for a penalty. Goalkeeper Mahmoud Al Mass saved Hugo's kick spot but the lineman Fadil Saleh Al Habsi raised his flag claiming that Al Mas had moved forward before Hugo executed the penalty kick. Al Mas went to the lineman and punched him for referee Yaqoob Gasim to show him the red card. Brazilian player Hugo made no mistake in the second attempt when he converted the ball into the net ending the first half with a 2-0 lead for his     side.

The hosts surprised the visitors only 45 seconds after the break scoring the third goal. Fahad Masaud switched the ball from the right flank in front of the goal mouth for Salim Saleh to drive it home off Hugo's perfect header. Salim Saleh came to make it 4-0 with a lovely header capitalizing on the ball sent by Fahad Masaud from the same spot four minutes later. The winner's coach Heckersberger from Austria brought in Ismail Matar and Abdul Rahim Juma'a to replace Salim Saleh and Fahad Masaud respectively in the 62nd minute. Brazilian player Marcelo scored a consolation goal for Sharjah in the 66th minute when he collected the ball and sent it straight into the net when he saw Al Wahda's keeper Motaz Abdulla out of his goal. But Al Wahda did not stop their attempts trying to benefit of Sharjah's defenders sever blunders to add more goal. In the 68th minute it was 5-1 when Hugo ghosted inside the box between five defenders to slam the ball into the net and substitute Abdul Rahim Juma'a scored the sixth goal nine minutes to  time to secure a 6-1 win for Al Wahda.
