Al Shabab defeat Al Riffah 2-0 to preserve leadership

The UAE Al Shabab Football Team finished their group stage of the GCC Clubs Championship as leaders of group "A" following their deserved 2-0 win over hosts Al Riffah of Bahrain in their last match of the competition played tonight at the losers' pitch May 10 in Manama. The two teams ended the first session with a goalless draw for Al Shabab to net two goals after the break. Essa Obaid opened the score only five minutes into the second half and Julio Cesar made it 2-0 in the 74^th minute. Al Shabab's victory dashed Al Riffa's hopes and at the same time opened the door wide for Al Salmiyah of Kuwait to qualify for the quarterfinal phase on goal difference.
