12 clubs granted a license for season 2013/2014
The First Instance Body (FIB) of the UAE Club Licensing, headed by Colin Smith, CEO of the Pro League Committee, has announced that 12 clubs have been awarded a license for the 2013-2014 season. The 12 clubs in alphabetical order are Ajman, Al Ahli, Al Ain, Al Dhafra, Al Jazira, Al Nasr, Al Shaab, Al Shabab, Al Wahda, Al Wasl, Baniyas, Dubai CSC.
In a positive development, the First instance Body (FIB) was pleased to note significant improvements from clubs in their commitment to the club licensing process, highlighting progressive steps in the engagement of third party companies, hiring of personnel and upgrades to stadia and facilities in particular. However, there is still room for improvement specifically in the 'B' and 'C' categories of club licensing; the former of which comprises criteria whereby any failure results in a sanction by the FIB, and the latter being the recommended best practices as stated by the Clubs Licensing Committee. Clubs have 5 working days to submit any appeals to the Appeals Committee, who will then review the appeals from 14th July.
It should be noted that Emirates FC and Sharjah FC were not part of the club licensing process for the 2012-2013 season as they did not hold professional status for the concerned time frame.
