AC Milan beat Al Ahli 2-1, Al Wasl face Hamburg
AC Milan of Italy Serie A leaders maintained a hard fought victory when they defeated Dubai-based Al Ahli 2-1 to win the inaugural Emirates Challenge Cup in the encounter played at Rashid Stadium on Sunday night in front of more than 7000 spectators. The losers had the efforts of some expatriate professionals like Fernando Baiano, Fabio Firamani and Ali Karimi along with some local players from other clubs while the visitors' coach fielded a full-strength side almost including their usual line-up key players.
The winners succeeded to take the lead seven minutes before the break through Seedorf who received a perfect pass from Pato, rounded up the Italian player Cannavaro defender of the home team before driving the ball home to end the first session with a 1-0 win.
AC Milan added the second goal in 72nd minute when Giacomo Beretta Capitalized on Robinho's cross from the right flank to send it into the net with a perfect header. Robinho was taken to the hospital due to a knee injury after he collided with a TV camera.
Al Ahli pulled one back five minutes to the final whistle when Hassan Ali sent a rocket-like shot netting the best goal of the match.
On the other hand Al Wasl will meet Hamburg from Germany on Tuesday January 4 at their pitch in Zabeel in a friendly game.
