Brazilian Alexander to replace Al Ain’s coach Al Mistiki
Al Ain Club have dismissed their first team coach Abdul Hameed Al Mistiki after poor results see the team currently sitting in 9th position with only 10 points. Al Ain Club administration has reached a deal with 43-year old Brazilian coach Alexander Gallo to replace Al Mistiki. Gallo, who played as a defender and midfielder in a number of Brazilian clubs including Sao Paulo and Corinthians, is due to take over the coaching duties following the Al Ain versus Al Shabab match on Thursday, December 23. Ahmad Abdullah, current assistant coach, has been appointed as a caretaker coach for this match.
The announcement was made by Dr. Khalid Mohammed Abdullah, Al Ain's Chief Executive Officer at the press conference held yesterday.
Gallo started his career as a coach six years ago and during this short period has coached 11 teams, most of them from Brazil, including SC Internacional who came third in the recent FIFA Club World Cup recently in Abu Dhabi. He has won many championships in Brazil and was awarded Coach of the Year in 2007 when he was coaching SC Internacional.
