Successful wins see Al Jazira and Bani Yas retain lead of the Etisalat Pro-League
Al Jazira continued their winning streak last night with a 4-0 win over visiting team, Al Ain, in the matchplayed at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium. The win sees them stay on top of the table with 26 points and maintain their defeat-free record, winning 8 matches and drawing two so far this season. Al Ain however have failed to win in eight consecutive matches and have slipped to 9th position, collecting only 10 points off two victories and four draws.
Al Jazira's Brazilian player Bare scored a hat trick of goals in the match, raising his tally to four for the season. He opened the score in the match by converingted a penalty kick only six minutes into the game. Ahmad Juma'a added the second goal in the 29th minute and Bare made it 3-0 three minutes before the break. Ibrahima Diaky of Al Jazira and Sand of Al Ain both failed to score off a penalty in the 50th and 56th minutes respectively, whilst Bare came to seal the result for the home team scoring the fourth goal eleven minutes from full time.
In the second encounter of the evening, Bani Yas achieved their eighth victory in the Etisalat Pro-League competition this season to raise their tally to 24 points and maintain second place, following their hard fought 2-1 win over Al Wahda at Al Shamkha Stadium. The hosts scored both goals before the break to end the first session with a 2-0 lead. Al Wahda are in 4th position with 15 points but still have a match in hand against Al Ahli, which was postponed from the 9th week due to their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup. They faced the home team without having the efforts of three of their key players - Brazilian Fernando Bayno and Hayder Alo Ali due to injury, along with defender Hamdan Al Kamaly who was shown a red card in his team's match against Pachuca of Mexico in the Quarterfinal of the FIFA Club World Cup championship. Al Wahda's defender Basheir Saeed made a big error when he touched the ball with his hand inside the box for a penalty 13 minutes into the game. Sengahoor from Senegal made no mistake when he converted the ball into the net giving his side an early 1-0 lead. Omani player Fawzi Basheir added to the woes of Al Wahda when he scored the second goal six minutes before the break. The substitute Mohammed Al Shihy pulled one back for Al Wahda six minutes from time to end the game with a 2-1 win for the hosts Bani Yas. Al Wahda's coach Hickersberger was given marching orders to follow the game from the stands.
In the other matches of the day, Sharjah got the better of Al Dhafra with a solitary goal netted by Abdullah Al Kamaly only six minutes into the game. Sharjah are in 7th position with 14 points while Al Dhafra are second from the bottom with 8 points. Sharjah's Brazilian player Marcelo Olivera was shown the red card in the 93rd minute.
Al Shabab defeated their city-rivals Al Ahli 3-1 to jump to fifth place with 15 points, the same balance of Al Wahda but a position ahead as they won the two team's head-to-head match. Al Ahli took the lead after only three minutes from the start through Yance but the visitors recovered to add two successive goals netted by Mohammed Nasr and Waleed Abbas in the 26th and 39th minutes respectively. Mohammed Nasr made it 3-1 in the 66th minute.
Al Nasr added three valuable points to take 8th place with 13 points, following their 3-2 win over Al Wasl. Al Wasl retained their 3rd place position with 16 points in spite of tonight's defeat. Abdullah Ahmad put Al Nasr in the lead in the 29th minute and Habeeb Al Fardan added the second five minutes later before Mohammed Al Shaiba reduced the deficit with a brilliant header six minutes before the end of the first session. Ecuadorian player Carlos Tennerio of Al Nasr made no mistake off a penalty to make it 3-1 but Yeste added Al Wasl's second goal one minute from the end to make it 3-2.
Dubai beat hosts Kalba with a lone goal to raise their tally to nine points and 10th place, while the losers remain at the bottom of the ladder with four points. Waleed Khalid netted the all-important goal of the match in the 73rd minute.
