The clubs and referees' committee hold a joint meeting

A joint meeting between referees' committee and technical managers of the UFL clubs was held at the UAE FA premises on Thursday December 8 attended by Yousuf Abdullah the UAE FA General Secretary, Carlo Nohra the UFL Chief Executive Officer, representatives of Al Shabab, Sharjah, Kalba, Dubai, Al Ahli and Bani Yas clubs as well as Omar Bishtawi, the technical manager of the referees' committee and Ahmad Yaqoob administrative secretary of the committee besides a number of other referees.

The UAE FA General Secretary, welcomed the referees at the outset of his speech saying: ' this meeting will be a starting spot of collaboration between the UAE FA and the technical bodies in the clubs as the referee and the coach are considered one of the most important elements of the game and they play the biggest role in developing the standard of football'. Yousuf Abdullah added,' the UAE FA doors are open to all coaches as we benefit much of your ideas and remarks. You are partners in promoting and developing the standard of football'.

Yousuf Abdullah wished the referees all the success in the matches of the rest of the season with all the hope to meet again in the future. He hailed their positive participation in this meeting assuring that the UAE FA are ready to receive any suggestions the referees provide via the clubs which can help promote the standard of football. He also paid a gratitude to the UFL for their big efforts in organizing the league matches and the other competitions especially Carlo Nohra for his cooperation with the UAE FA and the clubs as well. He hopes the technical standards of the UAE football would be more developed to reflect its real standards.

On the other hand, Omar Bishtawi disclosed the work plan to develop the referees' standard. A film about the referees warm- up camp which was held in Istanbul in Turkey for the 1st and 2nd division and the elite referees, was monitored in the meeting along with other films reflecting some cases that cause debates between the referees and the coaches with reference to some incidents that happened during the South Africa World Cup 2010 and some matches in Europe champions league. The international referee Ali Hamad took part in the discussion assuring that the protection of the players is the referees' first responsibility.
