UAE Senior Football Squad beat Syria 2-0 in a friendly match
The UAE Senior Football team beat their Syrian counterpart 2-0 in a friendly encounter played this night at Khalifa Bin Zayed pitch in Al Ain club which came as part of the two squads preparations for the Asian National teams championship due to kick off in Al Doha, Qatar, from 7 to 29 January. The winners' two substitutes Saeed Al Katheri and Diyab Awana netted both goals in the 63rd and 90 minutes respectively after the two teams ended the first session with a goalless draw.
The UAE Slovenian coach, Srecko Katanec gave a chance to 15 players to take part in the match to test the harmony of the team and at the same time try to make sure of the technical standard of the players. The UAE squad will play their second and last friendly game in this stage on Wednesday January 5 against Australia at the same venue at 6:30pm before flying to Doha on next Friday. After the next game the coach will announce the final list of the team which will include 23 players out of 26.
