Emirates lose to Al Rayyan 0-2 to remain out of contention
Ras Al Khaimah Club Emirates lost their last chance to proceed into the next stage of the 2011 AFC Champions League after being outclassed 2-0 by Al Rayyan of Qatar in their round 6 game played this evening at the winners' ground. Abdul Ghafoor Murad and Ahmad Ala scored for the home team in the 74th and 90th minutes respectively. The losers are classified in third position with six points while the hosts raised their tally to four and both teams have lost their chance to qualify for the next stage. Both Zob aHan of Iran and Al Shabab of Saudi Arabia have secured a berth in the best 16 phase with the former staying on top of the group with 13 points followed by the Saudi side in the second spot with 11 points.
On the other hand Al Wahda maintained their first win in the continental competition after beating visitors Piroozi of Iran with a 2-0 win to raise their balance to six points. Salim Saleh opened the score only 13 minutes into play and Mohammad Al Shihhy added the second in the 70th minute.
